Records Set as YCCC Defeat Bunker Hill CC 21-7

The Hawks have been on fire to open the season, scoring 37 runs across 14 innings in the first two games of the season.

YCCC traveled to the New England Baseball Complex on Wednesday for a weekday matinee matchup against Bunker Hill Community College. BHCC had the Hawks' number in the fall, winning their previous matchup in Boston by a score of 10-8. This time, it was a different story.

The Hawks plated one run in each of the first two innings, three in the third inning, and then put the game away early with a monster 11 run fourth inning that saw 17 hitters come to the plate. Team captain Jack Sullivan - who drove in four runs on the day, bringing his season total for RBI to nine - hit his first collegiate home run in the inning. "We came into the season hungry, and today we ate," said Jack. "Our bats have been hot to start the season, and we're looking to keep it rolling against SMCC on Saturday."

Every Hawks starter drove in a run Wednesday, with Sullivan and Caden Fontaine leading the way with four RBI each. YCCC collected 21 hits on the day, marking yet another school record.

"This was an awesome day for our program," said Coach Robinson. "This is a Bunker Hill team that really put it on us in the fall. Our guys were ready to give it right back to them today."

"Our approach at the plate so far this season has been fantastic. Coach LP has really worked with the hitters on having a mindset before stepping in the box, and the guys are buying into the philosophy. It's great to head into conference play at 2-0."

The Hawks (8-8) take on the Seawolves (11-7) on Saturday in a conference showdown at SMCC. You can see the full box score above and be sure to follow the team on Gamechanger and never miss any of the live action!
