Four Hawks Named To USCAA All-Academic Team
York County Community College is excited to recognize four standout student-athletes from the YCCC Baseball team who have been named to the Academic All-American Team, an honor awarded by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) to those who excel in the classroom as well as on the field.
Caden Fontaine (Liberal Studies), Jack Sullivan (Behavioral Health), Danny Williams (Business Administration), and James Erickson (Business Administration) all earned the distinction by maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher after completing at least 24 credit hours at YCCC.
"These guys are truly a testament to what it means to be a student-athlete," said Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Zack Robinson. "There’s a reason Danny, Jack, and Caden were all captains for us this year, and Jimmy has already been selected to wear that title next season. They set the tone."
Coach Robinson also noted the impact this group has had on the program’s culture and academic performance: “As a team, our GPA has gone up every semester since I arrived, and that’s no coincidence. These guys lead by example. They challenge each other, support each other, and set a standard that everyone who comes after them must strive to meet. Being the first class of baseball players at this college, they’ve played a huge role in shaping what our program is all about.”
Williams, one of eight players graduating this season, will be continuing his education at the University of Southern Maine to finish his Bachelor’s degree. Sullivan, Fontaine, and Erickson will all return next year to complete their degrees and lead the charge for another strong season—on and off the field.
