Track & Field Kicks off Indoors
Both the Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field teams competed in the University of Southern Maine Open on Saturday, January 6th. This was the first collegiate track meet for a few of our student-athletes. Returner Sophomores Michael Crosby (Berwick, ME) and Josh Price (Wells, ME) competed in 55-meter hurdles, with Michael also participating in the 200-meter dash and 600-meter run. Josh ran in the 55-meter dash as well.
For the men, newcomer Tyler Davies competed in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, and High Jump. While the first collegiate meet can be overwhelming for many, that did not shake Tyler’s performance. He recorded a jump of 1.63 meters in the High Jump which established an York County indoor track and field record!
Much the same on the women’s team, first year student-athlete, Blair Martin, set school records in the 200-meter dash (33.09 sec), the High Jump (1.32 meters), and the Long Jump (4.14 meters).
Congratulations Blair and Tyler for record-setting performances and to all of our student-athletes on a fantastic first meet!
Next up both teams will compete in the Panther Invitational I at Plymouth State on January 20th.
Go Hawks!!
