Hawk's Golf in Full Swing
The York County Community College Hawk's Golf team have been in action on the links this fall. The golf team, led by second year head coach, Joe Demaida, have participated in three matches so far during this fall season.
The golf team's season began on Wednesday, September 11th, when the team travelled to Fairlawn Golf Course in Poland, Maine to take on Central Maine Community College in a 9-hole mini-match. The team's low scorers for this event were Dan Williams and Liam Connors, who both carded a 48. Nic Gagnon (60), Emma Janousek (64), and Luke Sullivan (66) also competed in this match.
For their second match of the fall, the Hawks hit the road for The Meadows Golf Club in Litchfield, Maine on Saturday, September 14th, to participate in an event hosted by the University of Maine at Augusta. This was an 18-hole match, that featured Dan Williams with the low Hawk score of 94. Liam Connors also stayed under triple digits, shooting a 97. Amy Stanek, Luke Sullivan, and Nic Gagnon also competed during this match. The Hawks finished in 4th place out of seven schools in attendance.
In the third match of the season for the Hawks, the team traveled to Fogg Brook Resort, in Palmyra, Maine to take on Kennebec Valley Community College in a 9-hole mini-match. The Hawks snuck out their first victory of the season in this contest. Dan Williams continued his strong play this fall by carding a score of 49; this was tied for the low score in the match. Liam Connors came in with a 51, Nic Gagnon carded a 59, and Emma Janousek finished with a 64. These individual results combined for a team score of 223, which was able to defeat KVCC's score of 238.
The Hawks are back in the swing of things on Monday, September 23rd, when they host KVCC at Cape Neddick Country Club in Cape Neddick, Maine. The team is excited to host a home match this year, and hope to represent the YCCC community and defend their home turf.
