Hawks Compete in Historical First Meet
RANDOLPH,VT— The men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Vermont Tech to participate in the 2021 Maple Syrup Challenge. This historical day recorded the very first intercollegiate cross country competition that York County Community College has ever entered.
RANDOLPH,VT— The men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Vermont Tech to participate in the 2021 Maple Syrup Challenge. This historical day recorded the very first intercollegiate cross country competition that York County Community College has ever entered. The Hawks sent three women and three men to race. Among the teams racing were Middlebury, Utica, Fitchburg State, Paul Smith's College, SUNY Canton, Eastern Nazarene, Vermont Tech, NHTI and York County.
A beautiful fall day created the perfect atmosphere for the races which included a 5K for the women and an 8K for the men. Kiara Audette (Kittery, ME) finished first for the Hawks and first out of the Yankee Small College Conference competition with a time of 21:53.31. Maggie Dallaire (Biddeford, ME) finished with a time of 30:22.41 and Libby Papciak (North Berwick, ME) with a time of 33:13.20.
On the men's side, Kenneth Richard (Gorham, ME) finished first for the Hawks with a time of 37:52.57. The Hawks took home a half gallon of Maple Syrup for their efforts at the Mayple Syrup Challenge courtesy of Vermont Tech.
This meet also marked the first as a college head coach for Coach Andy Clement. Full meet results can be found here.
The Hawks are back in action on October 3rd when the head to New Gloucester, Maine for Maine States hosted by Bates College.
